Our acrylic primed fine linen, with its smooth grain, is particularly suited to portraits or glaze techniques.
The medium linen is primed using rabbit-skin glue then given a final coat of transparent acrylic gel that provides a barrier between the glue and the colour. You can paint with oils or acrylics and allow the texture of the linen to show through. Its adhesive qualities are also advantageous when using pastels.
The medium linen is also hand-primed with two acrylic layers; this is the most frequently- used type of linen. Gumed jute has the same features as gumed linen, but its extra-tight weft and coarse grain will give your work a special touch of originality.
The use of jute grain is an advantage in fine-layered portrait work.
